Help to Buy (Scotland)
Help to Buy (Scotland) offers financial support to buyers through a shared equity scheme funded by the Scottish Government. Eligible buyers are provided with up to 20% of the purchase price of their new home providing specific requirements are met.
The property must be a new build home built by a participating homebuilding company with at least 80% of the purchase price being covered by the prospective buyers. There are also strict rules regarding the value of the property and the scale of any mortgage being taken to facilitate the purchase.
Our team of conveyancing solicitors and paralegals can provide advice and guidance when purchasing your home through Help to Buy (Scotland), as well as making sure that you are fully informed about your rights and obligations under the scheme.
Remortgaging your home
Remortgaging is the process of moving your mortgage from your current lender to a new one. There are a variety of reasons why property owners would want to remortgage their property. You might be looking to get a better deal on your current mortgage, borrow more money, or your circumstances may have changed (for example following a divorce).
Stuart & Stuart can provide all the assistance you need to make sure that remortgaging your property goes as smoothly as possible.
Transfer of Equity
Transfer of equity is the process whereby the legal ownership of a property is changed. You might choose to do this because a property is being transferred to another member of your family, because you want to gift the whole property or a share of the property to another person or because your living arrangements have changed (perhaps following a divorce or a death).
Our team of conveyancing solicitors can help you with this process as straightforwardly as possible. Instructing a skilled and knowledgeable team can make sure that you are fully aware of the legal implications of a transfer of equity. If required, we can also liaise with colleagues in our private client department who can advise you on relevant estate planning, Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax considerations.
