Gordon has nearly 40 years of experience, assisting private clients with property purchase and sales, as well as Wills and Powers of Attorney.
Gordon has a particular expertise in assisting elderly clients, guiding and advising them in a very personable and approachable manner.
Having started his career as an apprentice in a small Dunbar firm in 1979, Gordon quickly became a partner of Garden Haig in 1983, running a branch office in Penicuik and then Haddington for 5 years. That firm merged with an Edinburgh firm in 1985, with Gordon becoming senior partner of the firm which grew to 8 partners and in excess of 80 staff by 1992. Experience as a partner in two larger law firms in Edinburgh then ensued, before Gordon joined Stuart & Stuart in September 2018.
Gordon continues to love assisting private clients in all aspects of their lives, providing a quality and personal service under the umbrella of Stuart & Stuart. He enjoys being part of a smaller practice with quality practitioners and longstanding relationships and connections.
Outside of practice, Gordon was invited to become a member of the Complaints Committee of the Law Society of Scotland and a tutor in conveyancing at Edinburgh University, becoming a member of the Diploma Board of Examiners for some years.
Gordon is also a Tribunal Chairman, sitting on Social Security Appeals across the country. Gordon has been active been active in the General Council of Edinburgh University for more than 10 years representing alumni from around the world.
Outside of work, Gordon enjoys spending time with family and friends; travelling; musical theatre and concerts; watching sport and playing golf.
