Wills

If you do not leave a Will, the law decides who will inherit what you own, which may be very different from your own wishes.

Making a Will lets you make clear what your wishes are, appoints the executors who will carry out your wishes, and generally makes things a great deal easier for your family.

The absence of a Will could mean unnecessary anxiety for your family. Your estate will take longer to settle and your assets may not go to the people you intend.

A Will gives you the reassurance that all your assets will be dealt with according to your wishes after your death.

Once you have a Will, you should regularly make sure it is up to date. Think about whether there are any grandchildren to be mentioned, and also make sure it is as tax efficient as possible - perhaps consider gifts, putting investments into trusts or making gifts out of income.

Why not take advantage of our Legal Health Check where our specialist team will advise you on the best way to arrange your affairs including possible ways to mitigate inheritance tax.
