Solicitors Edinburgh - Executries
An executry is the process of winding up an estate, i.e. distributing what you own at the time of your death to the beneficiaries named in your Will (or as the law directs if you do not leave a Will).
The responsibility for dealing with matters rests with the executors, who are the people appointed in the Will to act as the administrators of the estate. It is quite normal to appoint more than one executor, and two or three probably gives the best balance of continuity and shared responsibility. If there is no Will, an executor is appointed by the Sheriff Court.
Often the executor appoints a solicitor to help them carry out their duties which makes the process more streamlined and stress free.
The death of a relative or close friend is both a distressing and stressful experience. Our team of specialist Solicitors in Edinburgh and The Lothians can help you through this difficult period.
